You might only catch a glimpse of Pitt’s grounds crew from time to time, but the work they do lasts for weeks, even months.

Overturned soil around campus is the sign of expert crew members who spend tireless hours prepping flower beds, mulching, planting and weeding throughout the growing season.

The Office of Facilities Management team also nurtures ecology in outdoor spaces across the 145-acre Pittsburgh campus, including its five pollinator gardens, nine rain gardens, and nine green roofs and patios. Learn more about the crew’s commitment to sustaining Pitt’s built and natural environments and find green spaces around campus.

As you’re out enjoying the sunshine this season, look out for tiny crocuses outside Benedum Hall, planters around Posvar Hall and daffodils galore, soon to be followed by tulips and hyacinths.

Or, simply keep scrolling for a first look at campus in bloom.

Happy spring, Panthers!
