Silvina Orsatti was elected an American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese chapter president

Silvina Orsatti, assistant professor of Spanish at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, was elected president of the Pennsylvania Southwestern Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).

AATSP is an organization which promotes the study and teaching of the Spanish and Portuguese languages and their corresponding Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian and other related literatures and cultures at all levels of education. They have many regional chapters nationwide, including two in Pennsylvania.

Orsatti (EDUC ’17G) teaches Spanish language and culture and foreign language pedagogy. Her research interests include digital storytelling and game-based learning in the foreign language classroom. In 2014, she was named the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association Educator of the Year. Orsatti earned her EdD with an emphasis in language, literacy and culture from Pitt’s School of Education.
